Designer Hientje Nguyen and the models presenting the ‘The Light Of Nature’ collection
Designer Hientje Nguyen made a remarkable first public fashion show debut with her collection of 30 new designs, titled ‘The Light Of Nature.’ The collection features beautiful, vivid handbags that can be transformed into various unique and fascinating shapes.
These stunning creations draw inspiration from the vibrant beauty of nature. The collection captures the image of a cocoon transforming into a butterfly, spreading its colors and enhancing the grandeur of the natural world through the design line called ‘The Butterfly.’ It also celebrates the radiant beauty of nature through the blooming lotus flower, represented by the design line ‘The Lotus.

Both design lines are part of the impressive ‘The Light Of Nature’ collection unveiled on this occasion. Together, they carry a profound and meaningful message that designer Hientje Nguyen wishes to convey through the collection: ‘Beautify yourself, beautify others, beautify all living beings.’
For Hientje Nguyen, true beauty must possess a philosophical dimension, depth, and a strong sense of humanity. This is also what distinguishes the beauty of higher beings from that of lower forms of life.
Throughout the universe, all creatures have their own ways of displaying beauty—from the peacock spreading its magnificent feathers, to the chameleon changing its colors, to the countless vibrant hues found across the animal kingdom. So how can humanity express beauty in a way that sets us apart from other creatures?
As higher beings, our beauty should not be limited to dazzling colors or graceful forms alone. Human beauty must also embrace deeper values, compassion, intellectual depth, and philosophical meaning.
At the same time, it should embody creativity and innovation, evolving with the flow of life in ways that other creatures in the universe cannot imitate or achieve. This capacity for meaningful creation and transformation is what makes human beauty truly unique.

This is why Hientje Nguyen’s designs focus on a deeper dimension of beauty—one that truly reflects the stature of humanity—guided by the philosophy: “Sustainable, Refined, and Kind Beauty through Creativity and Innovation.” Her vision encourages people to pursue beauty with depth and purpose: beautifying oneself while also being considerate of others and mindful of the environment and the animals that share this planet with us.
But how is this humanistic and profound concept of beauty expressed through Hientje Nguyen’s designs?
First, careful attention is given to material selection. Hientje Nguyen primarily uses genuine leather from animals such as cows, goats, and sheep—animals already raised for food consumption, with the leather being a by-product that is responsibly utilized. She does not rely on leather from protected exotic species, nor does she support the breeding of animals solely for the fashion industry.
More importantly, Hientje Nguyen does not depend on rare or exotic materials merely to create an illusion of luxury or increase product value in a superficial way. Instead, she invests in the intellectual and artistic depth of each design, ensuring that every creation possesses a distinctive character and meaningful value.
As Hientje explains: “Through this approach to creating value, human beauty becomes more sustainable, refined, and humane. I believe this will become a future trend in fashion as people's appreciation for deeper human values continues to grow.”
Another quality that distinguishes humanity is our imagination and limitless creativity. For this reason, Hientje Nguyen’s designs consistently emphasize innovation and originality, contributing positively to the evolution and transformation of the fashion industry.
This can be clearly seen in the fifteen designs from ‘The Butterfly’ line presented at the recent L&S Fashion Show. Each handbag offers multiple transformations while maintaining practical functionality—an area that has not yet been explored with such depth and diversity anywhere else in the world.
Hientje Nguyen believes that: “Fashion is the cultural identity of an individual, a region, and a nation. At the same time, fashion is one of the clearest forms of communication about who we are and what our country represents. Therefore, we must be highly conscious of how we express ourselves through fashion, ensuring that this message is conveyed with sophistication and responsibility.”
One little-known aspect of the show is that many of the garments featured on the runway were actually pieces that Hientje Nguyen had ‘reborn’ after their previous owners no longer used them.
She shared: “If everyone casually discards clothing that is still perfectly wearable, our planet will soon be overwhelmed by pollution, and human health will suffer serious consequences. Recognizing this reality, I created the project ‘Reviving Garments to Help Save the Earth,’ giving old clothing an entirely new image and a new life, allowing these garments to continue shining in the hands of future owners

The boldness of this new direction is remarkable, as very few designers in Vietnam have been willing to conduct in-depth research and actively pursue such a project. Hientje hopes that more young Vietnamese designers will become aware of this initiative, join the movement, help spread its message, or draw inspiration from it, creating a new wave for the future of fashion.
By doing so, Vietnam can move toward a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment, while embracing and promoting the message: ‘Beautify yourself, beautify others, and beautify all living beings.
