Hiente Nguyen founded the fashion brand HIENTE HOLLAND in 2014. Originally trained as a painter, Hiente is an international designer from the Netherlands. She graduated top of her class in Fine Art & Design from Artez University of the Arts (Netherlands) in 2010, and has since devoted her life to painting and design.
Her passion for art began at the age of four, and by the time she was ten, she discovered her deep love for fashion design. Despite facing strong opposition from her family — who believed art and design offered little economic future — Hiente remained determined to pursue her dreams. At just thirteen, she became financially independent, supporting herself through her education and creative journey.
After five years of struggling to pursue university studies in Vietnam due to financial constraints, she was later accepted into Artez University in the Netherlands, where she consistently excelled academically.
Hiente’s journey with leather handbags started even before university. She spent years researching, collecting, and using luxury leather handbags, eventually building six successful leather and luxury handbag retail stores in both the Netherlands and Vietnam, before fully transitioning into luxury handbag design.
With decades of hands-on experience, combined with her multicultural (Asian–European) background and broad cultural perspective, Hiente has developed a distinctive and innovative design approach. Her creations bring groundbreaking versatility to the luxury handbag market — offering flexible, transformable pieces that can adapt into various forms and functions within a single design. In recognition of her outstanding creativity, Hiente was honored with the International Cultural Innovation Prize in Korea in 2024.
Today, in addition to being the founder of HIENTE HOLLAND, Hiente serves as the brand’s Creative Art Director.
She is joined by Nhi Vu, who has been the brand’s Co-Founder since its early days and currently serves as CEO.
